BEAUTY IS NOT SKIN DEEP
(January, 2006)
- by Mrs. Neelu Grewal
The eternal quest for beauty has women searching for that magic lotion that will stop time’s cruel plunder on their faces. Most of them do not that it is inner beauty that shines through and not just flawless face, which may temporarily catch your age.
A woman who is comfortable in her skin and has a positive attitude towards life, abundant energy and high self-esteem, will be any day more attractive than pretty counterpart who has nothing good to say about anybody. I know you will say that not every woman is born under a lucky star to be happy. Some people have an easier time finding joy, as everyone’s happiness quotient is different. The woman who knows how to make the most of what they have, and be satisfied with life are the one’s who attract people towards themselves. In his book ‘say yes to life’ Dr Clive Wood selected six key areas which relate to most women’s happiness, work, children, family, friends, home life and surroundings. All these need not to be well and harmonized for a person to be happy, but if you are always down in dumps, it is helpful to sit down and examine all these and thank for what you have.
To look good and positively glow, your body has to be in perfect harmony with the mind. A well looked after body not only enhances your physical appearance; it gives you a general feeling of well being.
There are so many areas of our life that we can not change and what we can, we may not be able to do at a moments notice, but so long as we know that we have to bring about a change in our thought process for a more beautiful you,- it is a beginning
Tips to reel away the blues
- Set attainable goals for yourself, for a short period of time. When you achieve something by sheer will power, it is a victory. A half an hour’s morning walk four times a week is also an achievement.
- Control your eating habits. Eat small meals even if it is four times a day. Fruits or hurriedly chopped salad and not junk food should satiate your hunger pangs.
- Try to be positive in life- A smile does not cost you anything, but it always makes a world of difference to the people around you. Control your tongue when you are about to say nasty things. Your words can never retract and damage they do is permanent. A negative attitude in life reflects on a person’s face.
- Don’t live in problem; look for a solution- think of a constructive way to deal with your problems, than to mop around half your life, trying to bring around change where it is not possible. Accept what you can not change.
- Get closer to a few people who care for you, irrespective of your flaws or weaknesses, invest more love and time in these relationships.
- Learn to appreciate nature. See beauty in God’s creations, be it a little colouful bird in your garden or an unusual green coloured leaf.
Aromatherapy, light therapy, yoga, meditation, colour therapy are all available to help you strike perfect balance between your mind and body.
